Hire a Laravel Developer

A senior freelance Laravel developer for new builds, SaaS, ERPs, APIs, upgrades and rescues, working with you directly.

If you're looking to hire a Laravel developer, you probably need more than someone who knows the framework. You need someone who can take a business problem, turn it into a working system, ship it to a real server and still be around when something needs to change. That's the work I do.

I'm Umer Farooq, a senior full-stack developer with 9+ years of experience. Laravel is the framework I use most, alongside Node.js, React, Next.js, Angular, Vue, MySQL and Postgres. I'm based in Islamabad, Pakistan, and I work with clients remotely as a freelance Laravel developer and consultant.

Who hires me

Most of the people I work with fall into one of these groups:

  • Business owners who need a system built around how their operation actually runs, such as bookings, fees, inventory or approvals, rather than another off-the-shelf tool they have to bend.
  • Founders building a SaaS or web product who want one experienced developer to own the backend and see it through to launch.
  • Teams with an existing Laravel app that need an extra senior developer for a while, or someone to take over after their last developer left.
  • Companies stuck on an old codebase, whether that's an outdated Laravel version, CodeIgniter or plain PHP, that keeps getting harder to change.

Typical Laravel projects

  • New builds from scratch. Planning the data model, building the app, and deploying it.
  • ERP and multi-branch business systems. Clinics, schools, trading and HR, where the business logic is the hard part.
  • SaaS products and multi-tenant setups, including tenant provisioning and isolated per-tenant databases.
  • APIs for a separate frontend or mobile app, using Laravel Sanctum for authentication.
  • Payment and messaging integrations such as Stripe, Elavon, Razorpay and Twilio, including recurring subscriptions.
  • Admin panels, including Filament admin panels and custom dashboards for staff.
  • Laravel and PHP upgrades. Moving an older app onto a supported PHP version and a current framework release. See legacy application modernization.
  • Moving off CodeIgniter. Rebuilding a CodeIgniter app in Laravel one module at a time. See CodeIgniter to Laravel migration.
  • Rescuing stalled projects. Picking up a half-finished or abandoned codebase, working out what's really there, and getting it moving again.

More than Laravel

Hiring a Laravel developer who can only work on the backend often means hiring a second person for everything else. I work across the full stack:

  • Frontend: React, Next.js and TypeScript for single-page apps and dashboards, plus Vue, Angular, Blade, Alpine.js and Tailwind where they fit better.
  • Backend: Laravel and PHP 8, Node.js, and older PHP frameworks like CodeIgniter and CakePHP when I'm working on an existing system.
  • Data: relational schema design in MySQL and Postgres, with Redis where it helps.
  • Deployment: Docker, Apache, shared hosting, cPanel and VPS servers. I can work inside the hosting setup you already have instead of asking you to move.

On Farabi Clinics ERP, for example, I worked on both the Laravel API and the Next.js admin dashboard that staff use every day.

How working with me goes

  1. A short call. You tell me what you're building or what's going wrong. I ask questions about the business, not just the tech stack.
  2. Read before quoting. For existing apps, I look at the code and database before suggesting anything. For new builds, I write down the scope, the main workflows and the data model so we agree on what's being built.
  3. A written plan. You get the plan in plain language: what gets built first, what's risky, and what I need from you.
  4. Build in small, visible steps. Work ships in pieces you can see and test, not in one big reveal at the end. Feature tests cover the parts that matter.
  5. Deploy and check it live. I deploy to your server, check the live app myself, and keep a rollback path for each release.
  6. Handover and support. You get notes on how the system is put together, so you're never locked in to me. If you want, I can stay on afterwards for changes and new features.

Ways to work together

  • Project-based. A defined piece of work, such as a new system, a module, an integration or an upgrade, with an agreed scope.
  • Ongoing work. A set amount of my time each month for features, fixes and maintenance on a system you already run.
  • Joining your team. I work inside your existing team, repo and process, whether that means taking tickets, reviewing pull requests or leading one part of the codebase.

If you're not sure which fits, that's what the first call is for.

Laravel work I've done

These are real systems, described on the case study pages exactly as they are:

  • Farabi Clinics ERP (2024 to present). Bookings, insurance and pharmacy for a multi-branch clinic operation, built on a Laravel 11 API with a Next.js admin dashboard. I contributed substantially to both the legacy API and its full rewrite for multi-tenant, bilingual, multi-currency operation.
  • School ERP (2025 to present). A multi-branch school management system covering admissions, attendance, timetables, exams, fees, notices and push notifications, built with Laravel and nwidart modules. I'm the sole developer of the current codebase.
  • Hibabox (2023 to 2025). A donation and mosque/madrassah administration platform on Laravel, MySQL, Stripe and Redis, with recurring subscription plans, campaigns, pledges, fee records and kiosk device management. I worked alongside a larger team for roughly a year and a half.
  • Oolus.org (2025 to present). A charity platform on Laravel connecting donors and volunteers with families in need, with a public donation flow, volunteer signup and an admin dashboard.
  • Momentum Engineering (in progress). A catalog and inquiry platform for a heavy-machinery trading business, which I'm building from the ground up on Laravel 13 as owner and primary developer.
  • Multi-Tenant CRM (early stage). My own product, built on Laravel 12, Filament 4 and Stancl Tenancy, with automatic tenant provisioning and isolated per-tenant databases.

From 2018 to Oct 2026 I also worked on NitroTickets, where I led its rebuild from CodeIgniter into Laravel.

You work with me directly

There's no agency in the middle and no account manager passing messages along. The person you talk to on the first call is the person who reads your code, writes the plan, builds the system and answers your messages. If a task is outside what I do well, I'll tell you.

Remote, time zones and communication

I'm based in Islamabad, Pakistan (UTC+5) and work with clients remotely. In practice that means:

  • Regular written updates, so you always know what's done, what's next and what's blocked.
  • Calls when they're useful, scheduled at a time that works for both of us.
  • Work in your own tools: your Git repository, your issue tracker and your chat.
  • The time difference often helps, because work can move forward while your team is offline.

Book a quick call

Tell me what you're building, or what's slowing your current Laravel app down. In 30 minutes we can work out whether I'm the right fit and what a sensible first step would be.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are you a freelancer or an agency?

I'm an independent developer. You work with me directly from the first call to the final deploy, with no account managers or subcontractors in between.

Can you work on an existing Laravel project someone else built?

Yes. I start by reading the code and the database, then tell you plainly what's in good shape, what's risky and what I'd change first. Taking over and rescuing existing codebases is a big part of my work.

Do you only work with Laravel?

No. Laravel is my main backend framework, but I also work with Node.js, React, Next.js, Vue, Angular, MySQL and Postgres, and I handle deployment too. Most projects need the whole stack, and I can cover it.

Can you upgrade an old Laravel or PHP app?

Yes. I move older apps onto a supported PHP version and a current framework release step by step, with tests around the parts that matter. The legacy application modernization page explains how.

Can you join our existing development team?

Yes. I can work inside your repository, issue tracker and review process, take on tickets, review pull requests or own one part of the system.

How do we work across time zones?

I'm in Islamabad, Pakistan (UTC+5) and work with clients remotely. I send regular written updates and schedule calls at times that suit both sides, so the time difference rarely gets in the way.

Who owns the code?

You do. The code lives in your repository, and I leave handover notes so another developer can pick it up later if needed.

How do we get started?

Book a 30-minute call or send a message through the contact page. Tell me what you're building or what's going wrong, and we'll work out whether I'm the right fit and what the first step should be.
